Your subscription: the 7-day trial and what's included
How the 7-day trial works, what your subscription includes, and what to expect if it lapses.
What you’ll do
Understand how Synapse access works: the 7-day trial, the subscription that follows, and what happens if it lapses.
Why nurses use this
You don’t want to be guessing about access on a busy shift. This is the map.
The short version
- Synapse is a subscription. Everything in these docs comes with it. One product, no feature tiers.
- New users start with a 7-day trial. Full access. Nothing held back, nothing to unlock later.
- Subscribe in the app (App Store / Google Play) or on the web at nursebrain.com/plans. Monthly or annual; there’s a student rate.
How access works
When you open a screen, Synapse checks your access:
- Subscribed or trialing → everything is open.
- Just subscribed → everything is open while your purchase finishes processing, even if that takes a little while.
- Otherwise → you’ll see the Subscription Required screen, with the trial offer on it.
What’s included
All of it. The same subscription covers the whole product:
- The Brain Sheet Builder: the drag-and-drop editor, every system template, your custom templates, PDF export, sharing.
- The shift workflow: your patient deck, tasks, notes, shift tracking, and the end-of-shift ratings that power your resilience picture.
- The Brain: the in-app assistant, text and voice, whole-shift and per-patient.
- Dictate Patient: describing a new admit out loud, parsed into the form.
- QR handoff: patient sharing between Synapse nurses, sending and receiving.
- The Care Plan Builder: nursing care plans built on standardized nursing language, saved to patients or exported as PDFs.
- Brain Sheet Scan: turning a photo of a paper sheet into patient records you can edit.
- Routines: recurring task bundles applied in one tap.
- Patient timeline, historical stats, and your Wrapped.
- The Apple Watch companion.
- The credentials vault.
The trial
Seven days, the full product. You start it through the App Store or Google Play (you’ll see the OS-level confirmation sheet) or on the web at nursebrain.com/plans. Cancel before the seventh day and you’re not billed; the trial still runs its remaining days.
Step-by-step: how to know where you stand
-
Open Settings. Your subscription is managed from there, including the path back to the store you subscribed through.
-
Or just use the app. If your subscription has lapsed, you’ll see the Subscription Required screen, and the way back is one tap.
-
Just subscribed and still seeing it? Give it a few minutes and reopen. It sorts itself out.
Tips from the floor
- Just subscribed and hit a wall? Don’t ragequit. Wait a few minutes and reopen. It catches up on its own.
- Offline doesn’t lock you out. If you’re subscribed and your phone loses signal mid-shift, you keep access. We don’t fight you on flaky hospital Wi-Fi.
- Annual is the better deal. Pricing is on nursebrain.com/plans, including the student rate for verified nursing students.
- Your data outlives a lapse. If your subscription ends, your patients, templates, and history are still there. Resubscribe and pick up where you left off.
Common questions
Is there a lifetime / one-time purchase? Subscription only. Monthly and annual.
What happens when my trial ends? The subscription starts unless you canceled. If you canceled, the next time you open Synapse you’ll see the subscription screen. Your data stays either way.
Can I cancel during the trial? Yes, from wherever you subscribed: the App Store, the Play Store, or your web account. The trial continues for the remaining days; you don’t get billed at the end.
Is there a student plan? Yes. Verified nursing students get a discounted rate. Details at nursebrain.com/plans.
What if my hospital provides NurseBrain? That’s NurseBrain Platform, the hospital product. Your unit manages access, and the pricing here doesn’t apply to you.
Can I switch between monthly and annual? Yes, through the store you subscribed in. The change applies at your next renewal.
Where this fits in your shift
This is the meta-guide for the rest of the docs. Everything the other guides describe comes with the subscription, and the trial gives you all of it for seven days. For the entry path most users follow, see your first shift.
